26 Jun Visit of the representatives of the Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences
Director of the National Academy of Public Administration, Mr Dražen Maravić, has discussed earlier today with the representatives of the Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences on establishing cooperation in the field of research activities. The National Academy was visited by Mr Xi Jinghui, Vice-President of the Academy of Social Sciences, Mr Dang Kimin, Deputy Director of the Institute of Information Science and Technology and Mr Wang Huimin, Dean of the Institute of Research in Cultural Innovations.
Mr Maravić thanked for the visit and introduced the representatives of the Academy with the work of the National Academy of Public Administration and with the plans for future development. ″The National Academy, as the central institution for professional development, should develop analytic and research activities as part of the preparation of the training and quality management programme, which is one of the pirorities of development in the forthoming period“, stressed the Director.
During the meeting, there was a discussion on monitoring the United Nations Milennium Development Goals and the tasks completed by Serbia so far, as well as on creating public policies in Serbia based on research and collecting evidence. At the end of the meeting, possibilities for establishing specific cooperation between the Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences and the National Academy of Public Administration were analysed.
The Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences is the oldest institution for social sciences in China and the biggest institution of its kind outside Beijing. It was founded in 1958 and it is managed by the Shanghai Regional Administration. The Academy has 17 institutes and 20 interdisciplinary centres implementing theoretical research and organising applied studies in the fields of social sciences. There are 760 employees working in the Academy of whom 550 are researchers. Guests from the Academy visited Morrocco before coming to Serbia where they had attended the United Nations Conference dedicated to transforming public administration for the purpose of achieving sustainable development goals of the Agenda 2030, and after Serbia they are leaving to Montenegro and the Regional School of Public Administration.
